The State Funeral of The Queen

The State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, 19th September 2022 at 1100hrs BST. A Committal Service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, will take place later the same day at 1600hrs.  Elements of the State Funeral Service and the associated ceremonial arrangements will pay tribute to The Queen’s extraordinary reign, and Her Majesty’s remarkable life of service as Head of State, Nation and Commonwealth On the morning of the State Funeral, the Lying-in-State will end at 0630hrs as the final members of the public are admitted. The State Funeral Service will be conducted by the Dean of Westminster . During the Service, the Prime Minister and the Secretary General of the Commonwealth will read Lessons. The Archbishop of York, the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and the Free Churches Moderator will say Prayers. Concordia res parvae crecunt

During a walk in Hulst, Zeelandic Flanders in The Netherlands, I saw the phrase "Concordia res parvae crecunt". Immediately I tried to translate these Latin words in Dutch (which is my mother tongue). So I translated it into "Eendracht maakt macht". In English the phrase is "Unity makes strength". First of all, I asked myself the question: When was Zeelandic Flanders a part of Belgium? Because the Belgian motto is "Unity makes strength". Curious as I was, I made a bit of a research and then I learned a very interesting history and knowledge.  "Unity makes strength" originally was used by the Dutch Republic (1581-1795) and during most of the Napoleonic time in The Netherlands (1802-1810). After the Dutch gained independence of the Spanish Habsburgs, the phrase became more and more familiar. World War II Juliana of The Netherlands

On 30 April 1909, Juliana of The Netherlands was born at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague as the daughter of Queen Wilhelmina of The Netherlands and Duke Henry of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Prince Consort of The Netherlands. Love and Marriage On 7 Janurary 1937 Princess Juliana of The Netherlands married Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld, a German aristocrat. The wedding caused lots of troubles in the country because Bernhard was a German therefore he was granted Dutch citizinship on 24 November 1936. The date 7 January 1937 was chosen very well. On the same day, Princess Juliana's grandparents, King Willem III and Queen Emma had married 80 years earlier. Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard would have 4 children together.
